“You are not in the flesh, you are in the Spirit… and anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.”

Romans 8:9

Right from the moment we received the Holy Spirit and begun walking with Him, we started to live as spiritual beings. As spiritual beings, we focused beyond our mortal life. From that time of our spiritual regeneration, we died from our old self. Under the seal of the Holy Spirit, our minds no longer crave for the things of the flesh and our hearts started to yearn for what is noble, is holy and is pleasing before the eyes of our Father in heaven. We are guided by the belief that our short sojourn on earth is nothing but a blink compared to eternity waiting for us as planned long before the time of creation.

And you also were included in Christ when you heard
the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation.
When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal,
the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit
guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption
of those who are God’s possession — to the praise of his glory.

(Ephesians 1:13)

If you still crave for the pleasure, wealth and glory of this world, you are still living under the snares of the devil. That means you are still not sealed for salvation by the Holy Spirit. That means when you die and face Jesus as judge, you will be disowned even if you claim to be a Christian, (Matthew 7:21-23). It will be easy for Him to spot you because you do not have the Seal of God’s possession. While you are still living, while you still have time, present yourself before God. Humbly pour out your heart to Jesus and plead for mercy. Let Him transform you by the power of His Spirit. Repent and desperately seek for God’s forgiveness for any change based solely on human initiative wont last and wont be honoured in heaven because it lacks the Seal of God’s approval.

Jesus answered my pleadings through this prayer from heartdwellers.org, I hope and pray that He will be merciful to you too.

“Jesus, I know I have sinned,
I know I have avoided facing what I’ve done
and indeed I know there is little time left.
Please forgive me, have mercy on me
and receive me into your kingdom.
I know you died for my sins.
From this day forth,
I turn my back on my sinful ways
and with the help of the Holy Spirit,
I will live my life for you. Amen.”

Once the gift of regeneration has been granted to you, you will feel the change within you without effort. You will notice that your former worldly addictions are gone, nada. The cravings for your favourite sins suddenly disappeared. You will feel an overwhelming joy, peace and thanksgiving within your new heart and mind sealed with the Holy Spirit. Now, as new creation, you have the privilege to live your life as Jesus would, through the power of the Holy Spirit, according to the will of the Father. From this time on, be mindful of the cues of the Holy Spirit within you.

Expect that you will have the urge to witness for what God has done to you. From now on, you will see things differently. The love and mercy of Jesus will reflect in your actions. And most likely, the Holy Spirit will endow you with special gifts that would be beneficial to God’s people and God’s lost children.

Now that you had been sealed for salvation, the devil will work harder to get you back. Watch out for your attitudes, for the devil might use them to drag you down. Under all circumstances, never project yourself as greater than anyone. Remember that the gifts you have were given to you by grace and not by your own merit. Never judge or belittle anyone. Be compassionate in correcting a wrong practice. Approach the lost in a loving way. Never engage in any pointless argument. Stay humble. Be forgiving in time of persecution. Remain small before the eyes of everyone and always give the glory to God.

In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, he reminded us on how to live a new life in the Spirit:

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbour, for we are all members of one body. “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.  And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.(Ephesians 4:22-30)

And when the Holy Spirit sends you to witness under His power for the sake of the lost, remember these words of encouragement from Peter:

Dear friends, your faith is going to be tested as if it were going through fire. Do not be surprised at this. Be happy that you are able to share some of the suffering of Christ. When His shining-greatness is shown, you will be filled with much joy. If men speak bad of you because you are a Christian, you will be happy because the Spirit of shining-greatness and of God is in you. (1 Peter 4:12-14)
